Water in all Rajasthan districts fluoride-affected

New Delhi, July 28. Government is considering change in its funding pattern for habitations affected by excess fluoride in ground water, Rural Development Minister C P Joshi said in the Rajya Sabha.

Answering supplementaries regarding the problem in various districts of Rajasthan, he said, many villages in all the 33 districts of the state were affected.

He said sufficient central funds have been given to the state for supply of clean drinking water to the people.

Out of 8,900 habitats suffering from this problem, 5,300 have been covered. However, with water level going down gradually, the problem persists and households suffering from this problem are increasing in the state, Joshi said.

"To solve this problem, we are planning to change the funding pattern for states suffering from this problem in the 11th Plan," Joshi said.
