El Dorado might fluoridate drinking water

The city of El Dorado, AR is trying to decide whether to fluoridate its drinking water. The city council approved the move in 2005 but the city has yet to carry it out. City council members say that after the ordinance was approved, the costs to fluoridate the water system came in higher than expected and the city did not have the money to go forward with it or cover continuing expenses. Now, city officials are taking another look at it and getting revised estimates on the cost. The system serves more than nine-thousand customers. Fluoride is a mineral that helps prevent cavities and helps teeth repair themselves.
