McPHERSON -- The water in McPherson won't contain fluoride anytime soon, after voters soundly rejected the proposal in Tuesday's election.

 City residents rejected the proposal by a nearly 5-to-1 ratio. Tuesday's vote follows two votes against fluoride in the 1960s, the last in 1968.

 McPherson Mayor Vernon Dossett said the citizens chose voluntary individual treatment rather than a potentially costly program.
