    Vinalhaven to vote on one contested seat, fluoride question

    Vinalhaven voters will cast ballots on Tuesday, June 9 to fill two selectman positions, two school board posts, and one post on the Vinalhaven Water District. All the positions are for three years.

    In the only contested race, incumbents Patricia Lundholm and Dennis Warren will appear on the ballot with Jack Olson to see who will hold two available seats on the Board of Selectmen.

    Joseph Bickford and Julianne Shane are both running uncontested for reelection to their positions on the Maine School Administrative District 8 School Board and Theodore Johanson is running for reelection to the Vinalhaven Water District.

    In addition to those elected positions, voters will vote on fluoridation and the SAD 8 budget. Those questions read as follows.

    • “Shall fluoride be added to the public water supply for the intended purpose of reducing tooth decay?”

    • "Do you favor approving the Maine School Administrative District No. 8 budget for the upcoming school year that was adopted at the latest district budget meeting?" ...
