    Wahoo: Fluoridation vote on November 4

    PAGE 6: ... In April of 2008, Nebraska Legislature voted in a bill the requires the fluoridation of drinking water of any city or village with a population of 1,000 people or more. This bill will take effect on June 1, 2010. The estimated cost to fluoridate the water would be $25,000.00 for capital cost and an annual cost of $7,000. (chemicals and labor). There would also be an increase to the weekly testing costs. There is a provision in the bill that the City Council may hold a public election. Only with a majority vote can the City NOT fluoridate. On a motion by Forbes to recommend to the City Council that they put this issues up for vote of the people, was seconded by Jensen. Roll Call vote: Forbes, yes; Jensen, yes; Tyler, yes; Lubker, yes and Hennings, yes. Motion Carried. ...
